“The Great Captain” Daniel Passarella is the only Argentina footballer to win two FIFA World Cups. He is considered to be the greatest South American defender of all time.

Daniel Passarella got himself the title of “The Great Captain” after he drove Argentina to their first-ever world cup title. His leadership, passion, and his organizational prowess on the field made him an outstanding captain. Daniel Passarella was considered to be the most skillful center-back coming from South America.

He played in the sweeper / CB position and often join the attack in scoring goals. He was excellent in the air despite his medium height. Daniel Passarella scored more than 150 goals in his club career. He is only behind Ronald Koeman in a top-scoring defender list.

Despite his effort and skills, he never won the South American Player of the year. His best position was 4th came in 1978.
