
BCCI has announced the central contracts for 2022/23 season and they have retained the grading system used in the last few years. Players are awarded central contracts according to 4 different grands and we explain the grading system and which player is in which grade.
Indian Men’s Cricket Central Contracts:
As we mentioned before, contracts are handed out according to the grading system. Higher the grade, higher the base salary plus match fee.
Like all boards, BCCI divides cricketers’ central contracts into 4 different categories

International Crickets Salary
Captain’s Bonus: Rohit Sharma became captain of all three formats. He will be the highest paid player in the Indian squad how, he will receive extra 25% to 50% match fees as of captain’s bonus.
Match Free: Apart from the basic base yearly salary, players are compensated according to how many matches they play at international level. There is a match fee per match and we explain below how.
- Test Match Fee regardless of the grading system is 15 lakh ($18,500) per player in the starting xi.
- For ODI match fee 6 lakh ($7,500) per player in starting XI.
- For T20i match fee players will get 3 lakh per match ($3,750)
Grade A+ Contracts:
This is the highest grade in the Indian cricket central contracts. Players in this grade are usually the one who have performed consistently in last 12 months. Or they are captain in 1 or 2 formats. In 2022/23 contracts only three players have been included in Grade A+.
INR 7 crores is the base annual salary for grade A+ players. That is $860,000 a year.

Grade A Contracts:
This is the second highest rated grade in indian central contract. This include players who have consistently played international cricket for India in one or two formats.
INR 5 crores is the base annual salary of Grade A players. That is $615,000 a year.

Grade B Contracts:
Players in grade B earn annual salary of INR 3 Crore ($375,000 a year)
7 players are included in this grade for 2022/23 season. These include consistent players in the national team but their performances have been below part in last 12 months.
Grade C Contracts:
Players in grade C are usually who are not consistent in the national team but are retained in the central contract for 12 months period. They are paid INR 1 crore annually (120,000 a year).
Indian Cricketer Salaries In Current Central Contracts:
BCCI generates money from their sponsorship deal, tv rights deals, and merchandise sales and they compensate players in the central contract via base salary plus match fee.
